NYF's big presentation is tomorrow, but today was a meeting between WSK Rzeszow and the three vendors competing for the fastener business. We went in, watched a presentations about WSK, and took a tour of the company grounds and factories. WSK is Poland's largest jet engine manufacturer. It was pretty cool to be able to see how jet engines are built. Just like with almost everything else, the raw components are rather unimpressive. Not to trivialize, but it is just a bunch of carefully bent pipes, castings, shaped sheet metal, and machined metal parts, that through an amazing feat get put together into something's as complex as a jet engine.
After the meetings the four of us went back to the hotel and worked on the next day's presentation, for which I was unfortunately not going to be present.
Later on in the evening I went to the train station to go and see Kasia, whom I met in the states with her husband Sylwek, who is a cousin of a good friend of mine. The train ride went fast and I met up with Kasia on the train station. We went out to dinner and I feasted, as this was going to be my last meal before heading out east from Poland.
After dinner we went to Kasia's place where I got to meet her daughter Zuzia. I have seen pictures of Zuzia that Mike took some time back, and this girl is one of he most gorgeous babies I have ever seen. She has the most amazing large eyes. On top of all this, she is very smart and sharp, and it is impossible to surprise her when talking with her. In fact, the things she says are sometimes so profound and witty that we spent the evening having a conversation with a four year old.
I was back in Rzeszow late with only two hours of sleep ahead before the flight for St. Petersburg.
